Following approval by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, the City of Melbourne will be home to the Zaha Hadid Architects’ “Stacked Vase Tower.” The 54-story, multipurpose structure will be the first of Hadid’s in the Australian city. Spanning a total of 70,000 square meters, the tower is designed to accommodate office, retail, residential, and even public spaces while using 50% less energy than most other buildings. As practical as the structure has been designed, it will be equally stunning. The all-white, planar columns covering the exterior are a modern interpretation of historical architecture, resulting in a sculpture-like presence. No targeted completion date has been announced, but in the meantime, check out the photos above and video below for a closer look.
